Steve Ettlinger, author of Twinkie, Deconstructed describes his book as his “journey to discover how ingredients found in processed foods are grown, mined (Yes, mined) and manipulated into what America eats.
Bio: Steve Ettingler enjoys researching and explaining things. He has worked with other people to produce, edit, or write 40 books since 1986; he co-wrote six of those. Most of his books are popular reference books on consumer-interest topics ranging from home repair to Star Trek to ethnic cuisine and even beer and wine. “Twinkie, Deconstructed” was inspired by those books but it was the first narrative nonfiction book Mr. Ettlinger researched and wrote alone. Mr. Ettlinger has been interviewed hundreds of times and has been a guest on all the morning TV shows, including The Today Show and Good Morning America. “Twinkie, Deconstructed” has been optioned four times by television producers but has not yet been turned into a TV show, though one is in progress right now. Mr. Ettlinger currently resides in Park Slope and has two kids, who considered attending NEST+m.
