Interventions
When a child is struggling academically, behaviorally, emotionally or socially, interventions are used to help them overcome the obstacles they face.
Interventions are provided in the classroom by the teacher for 6-8 weeks. If they are successful in helping students meet their goals, the interventions can be removed when ready. If the child continues to struggle, the team re-convenes to discuss additional or alternate interventions.
- Tier 1 - Universal supports for all.
- Tier 2 - Targeted strategies for some students. Used by the teacher in class.
- Tier 3 - Intensive intervention for a few students. Given by the teacher or a learning specialist, in or out of class.

To discover what works best for each student, teachers analyze multiple forms of data and sources of information to give as holistic a picture as possible. Once they have identified specific areas of need, they choose the best path of support possible, meet with the family to set measurable goals and then implement the supports for 6-8 weeks while measuring progress. At the end of 6-8 weeks, they come back together with the family to decide whether that support(s) is effective or if something else is needed. Supports are based on individual need and are designed to be temporary to help students successfully access the curriculum with their peers.
