Support Services
Many students need more support to succeed in school. Teachers provide universal supports for all students such as thoughtful seating arrangements, use of visual aids, rubrics and modeling examples of work.
However, sometimes students need more support that is specifically designed for their challenges. There are a few different levels of supports, which follow a continuum from most general and universal to more specific and tailored for the fewest number of students.
Some students benefit from short term academic or social-emotional interventions to reinforce important concepts and skills in order to move forward. Other students require accommodations to change their learning environment, the way material is presented, or the time needed to complete an assessment. A few children need Special Education services from learning specialists or clinicians to master fundamental skills needed in school.
