ADMISSIONS CRITERIA
Kindergarten – Applicants are assessed by their pre-K teacher. Families are notified by their child's school whether their child has been recommended to apply to Gifted & Talented programs. Eligible siblings of current NEST+m students have priority for available seats. 100 seats are available in Kindergarten.
Grades 1-4 – The applicant's grades are considered and families will be notified by the child's current school whether the child is eligible to apply to Gifted &Talented programs. Eligibility is based on report card grades. For more information on eligibility please visit schools.nyc.gov/GT. Eligible siblings have priority for available seats. 16 seats are available in Grade 1, and 0-5 seats in Grades 1 through 4.
Grade 5 – This grade is a terminal grade for our lower school, and is not an admissions entry point.
HOW TO APPLY
SET UP your MySchools account. Only one parent/guardian can be connected to each applicant. You will need a sign up code from your child's Guidance Counselor or contact a Family Welcome Center representative.RANK NEST+m as one of your program choices on the Kindergarten application in MySchools. NEST+m is listed in MySchools as "New Explorations Into Science, Technology & Math". Our school code is 01M539.
- The Kindergarten application opens in December and closes in January.
- You must be a resident of one of the five boroughs of NYC.
- There is no test for K-4 admissions.
HOW TO REGISTER
If your child receives an offer to attend NEST+m, you will receive an email to schedule a registration appointment. Please DO NOT send documents unless you have received an offer to attend NEST+m.HELPFUL LINKS

NEW TO NYC PUBLIC SCHOOLS
If you are new to NYC or in private school, you must contact a Family Welcome Center to find out about enrolling your student in NYC public schools. The representative can help you set up your MySchools account.
RIGHT OF RETURN
If your student is discharged from NEST+m and wants to return, your request will be considered if there is an available seat.
